The mechanism of array antenna is based on principle of inteference of waves.

An array antenna is an array of antennas in which each one has the same radiation pattern. Beam direction can be controlled by an array antenna. The mechanism is based on the physical phenomenon "interference of wave". Mutual couplings of these antennas are normally neglected.
